There are many reasons why older children and young people who can't return home and can't be considered for adoption or permanent fostering. Such children and young people still need a secure, positive experience of family life where they can receive unconditional acceptance, support, guidance and friendship to help them move successfully into independent adulthood. There is a significant number of children and young people who require long-term placements.
